UN Experts Urge All States to Recognise State of Palestine

As of 28 May 2024, the State of Palestine was recognised by the vast majority of Member States of the United Nations.

All States must follow the example of 146 United Nations Member States and recognise the State of Palestine and use all political and diplomatic resources at their disposal to bring about an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, UN experts said on June 3.

“This recognition is an important acknowledgement of the rights of the Palestinian people and their struggles and suffering towards freedom and independence,” the experts said. read more

To promote this initiative, videos have been launched on social media of important figures in the defence of democracy explaining why it is necessary to defend it.

The Global Democracy Coalition (GDC) launched ‘The Voice and Value of Democracy’ campaign at the Copenhagen Democracy Summit (May 14–15, 2024) with the aim of transforming the prevailing narrative and countering recent negative perceptions of democracy.

Convened by International IDEA with civil society partners, the Global Democracy Coalition is a multi-stakeholder alliance of more than 120 democracy organizations from around the world committed to advance and protect democracy worldwide. read more
